Angela Rayner declares £3,550 worth of free clothes from Lord Alli

The Deputy Prime Minister declared the clothes in the latest register of interests. She had previously registered it in July as a 'donation in kind for undertaking parliamentary duties'.
The MP for Ashton has now updated the entry as being for 'work clothes for use while undertaking duties'. The donation was made in June.

Ms Rayner, Sir Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves stopped accepting donations to pay for clothes in September after the Prime Minister and his top team received criticism for accepting freebies. Sir Keir has paid back £6,000 worth of gifts and hospitality he received since entering Number 10.
He also commissioned a new set of principles on gifts and hospitality to be published as part of the updated Ministerial Code. Gifts from long-standing Labour donor and British businessman Lord Waheed Alli came under the spotlight in recent weeks, overshadowing the party’s annual conference in September.
The Prime Minister received clothing donations worth £10,000 in October 2023 and £6,000 in February 2024, taking his total clothing gift value to £32,000. Sir Keir also received £2,400 from Lord Alli for glasses, and the use of an £18 million London penthouse during the election campaign - valued at £20,437 for a near seven-week stay.
