'Severed head' found on Edinburgh street in gruesome discovery - reports

Police rushed to the Cowgate area, in the city's old town, on Saturday night (November 2) with the area and nearby pubs evacuated. A forensic tent was erected on the street as a huge emergency response descended on the scene.
Eyewitnesses have claimed that a 'severed head' was found in a nearby street. Police Scotland have so far confirmed that officers were responding to a 'road traffic incident'.

Police added that pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, according to the Daily Record. A woman has since taken to social media claiming she was being arrested by cops in a separate incident - when they had to suddenly leave to attend the scene in Cowgate last night.
She alleged that the cops' faces had 'turned white; as they sped off 'doing 100mph minimum to get to Edinburgh', the Mirror reports. She wrote: "I can confirm the two officers who arrested me and dropped me off pronto had to attend the incident in Edinburgh and I heard it all.
"It's real guys. They dropped me on the village main street doing 100mph minimum to get to Edinburgh. [And] when I say their faces went white, they looked terrified of what they [were] about to see."

Comments left on the Police Scotland Facebook page claim the images of the alleged incident are 'gruesome' and 'horrific'. Two separate forensic tents were set up last night, with investigations ongoing today.
A Police Scotland statement said: "Officers in Edinburgh are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision in the Cowgate area of the city. Shortly after 7.30pm on Saturday, 2 November, we responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
"Enquiries are ongoing. Blair Street, Guthrie Street and Candlemaker Row are currently closed, and members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice."
