A man is set to appear at court on Friday after he was arrested just hours after he allegedly burgled a home, stole a car and bank cards and then used them a number of times around Plymouth.

Police were alerted to an incident at an address in Peverell at around 2am on Wednesday [October 30] which saw a number of items taken from a family home. The suspect is believed to have gone into a number of rooms of the house, taking car keys and three bank cards. The alleged victim told police they believe the suspect may have even entered their bedroom to take one of the items as it was kept there.

Investigators made a number of inquiries during the morning, including tracing the various stores and eateries where the bank cards had been used that day. Police believe the cards were used more than 20 times within a few hours.

A suspect was identified and the missing vehicle was found near to his home in Pentillie Crescent, Peverell. A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken to Charles Cross police station custody suite for interview.

Dean Lennox has now been charged with three counts of fraud by false representation, a dwelling burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

He was remanded into custody and will appear at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Friday morning.
