Knife and suspected drugs found as armed police swarm Plymouth street

A man has been arrested after a large police presence and cordon was seen in the city on Friday, October 18. Police vans an armed officers were seen in the Morice Town area of Plymouth, with a cordon blocking off Charlotte Street to Keat Street.

Police were called around 4pm to Charlotte Street after reports of suspicious activity at a property. Officers attended the scene and found a knife and suspected drugs.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. The man has since been released on police bail until January 14.

Four other people were also arrested at the scene. Three men and one woman, aged in their 30s and 40s were arrested in connection but were later released with no further action.

A local pub, The Three Ferrets, was also told to close by police. The pub was not involved in the incident, police confirmed at the time.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police attended Charlotte Street, Plymouth, at around 4pm on Friday 18 October, following reports of suspicious activity at a property. Officers attended and located a knife and suspected drugs. This was an isolated matter with no wider risk to the public.

"A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. He has been released on police bail until 14 January.

"Three men and a woman, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested in connection but later released with no further action being taken."
