Wrong number to blame

Salmon Arm RCMP say a case of mistaken phone numbers led to a local woman receiving multiple calls from an unknown man screaming profanities at her.

On Oct. 5, a woman told Salmon Arm RCMP she had been receiving several phone calls from the same phone number, and when she answered the calls an unknown man would scream profanities at her.

“Salmon Arm RCMP were able to trace the phone number back to a man in Logan Lake, who stated he had a peace bond with an individual and believed that person was calling him from the phone number he was calling to yell at,” said Const. Andrew Hodges of the Salmon Arm RCMP.

Officers informed the man the number he was dialing was registered to a person in Salmon Arm, not the person he believed he was calling. They also told him to stop calling that number.

"The woman advised the phone calls stopped, but that she had also blocked the phone number," Hodges said.
