Man found dead near North Coast 500 route after falling from beauty spot

A man has died after falling from a beauty spot close to the North Coast 500 route yesterday. Emergency services were called to the incident at Keiss Castle in Caithness at around 2.25pm on Wednesday, October 30, following reports of a man falling close to the Highland landmark.
Two ambulances and Coastguard Rescue teams from Wick and Duncansbay were deployed to the scene. Police confirmed the man was rushed to Caithness General Hospital, however, he was tragically pronounced dead.
The man's next of kin have been made aware and officers remain at the scene of the incident, which is popular with tourists travelling the NC500. Police enquiries into the man's death are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.25pm on Wednesday, October 30, police received a report of a man injured falling near to Keiss Castle.
"The man was taken to Caithness General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Next of kin have been made aware. Emergency services remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 2.25pm to attend an incident near Keiss Castle. Two ambulances were dispatched, and one patient was transported to Caithness General Hospital, Wick.”
