Three cars torched on Scots street as cops probe 'wilful' early hours blaze

Police have launched a probe after three cars were torched on a street in Glasgow. Fire crews raced to Jedworth Avenue in Drumchapel after the alarm was raised at around 2.50am on Wednesday.

Pictures shared by Glasgow Live showed a vehicle outside a home engulfed in flames as a thick plume of smoke billowed into the dark sky. Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze, which also affected two other vehicles.

It is understood no one was injured during the incident, however officers have confirmed they are treating the fire as 'wilful'. Enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.50am on Wednesday, November 13, we received a report of a car on fire in the Jedworth Avenue area of Glasgow. Emergency services attended and the fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

"No one was injured. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.49am on Wednesday, November 13 to reports of a car on fire at Jedworth Avenue, Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting three vehicles. There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
