Man dies after A1 crash involving car and van at Ranby
The road remains closed in both directions
by Laycie Beck · NottinghamshireLiveA man has died following a crash on the A1. At around 9am on Saturday, September 28, emergency services were called to a crash involving a car and van.
The incident happened on the southbound side of the dual carriageway at Ranby. The car driver, a man in his 70s, was treated at the scene but sadly died. As of 5.30pm the road remains closed several hours later from the A57 to Blyth Services with diversions in place.
Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends at this difficult time. The road closures currently remain in place while inquiries continue into the incident. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.”
The van driver was not injured in the collision and remained at the scene. They are assisting police with their inquiries.
Nottinghamshire Police is asking that any motorists who witnessed the collision or who have dashcam footage that may be helpful to the investigation get in touch with the force. This can be done by calling 101 and quoting incident number 177 of September 28, 2024.
