Police have released an image of a man they would like to talk to after a 75-year-old pensioner was punched in the ribs. The man was standing at Bulwell Forest tram stop at around 4pm on Thursday, October 10 when he was approached by a drunk man drinking from a beer can, according to the force.

The man then punched him in the ribs and threatened to stab him. The victim got away and managed to board the tram to Hucknall, while the suspect stayed on the platform and then boarded another tram.

Officers have been examining CCTV and carrying out other lines of inquiry to try and identify the suspect, but no arrests have been made yet. They would now like to talk to the man in the photo, whom they hope could help officers with their investigation.

PC Lisa Hopkin, who is investigating the incident, said: “This appalling incident has understandably caused the victim immense distress. He was left very shaken by the suspect’s intimidating and threatening behaviour.

"Luckily, he was not seriously injured. However, this does not take away how seriously we are treating this incident. Using threats to stab someone is completely unacceptable and we are determined to catch the person responsible and ensure they are put before the courts.

“We have released images of a man that could help us with our inquiries. We are calling on the public’s help to identify him. Do you know the man in the images? Are you the man in the images? Please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
