Birmingham Airport has halted all flights and operations due to an ongoing police incident, urging passengers to avoid travelling to the site.

West Midlands Police are reportedly at the scene managing the situation, although details regarding the nature of the incident remain undisclosed. A photo circulating online shows a police vehicle obstructing the airport's entrance.

In a statement, Birmingham Airport announced: "WMP is currently on-site dealing with an incident. Airport operations are currently suspended. Passengers are advised to NOT come to the airport at this time. The Airport's social media channels will be updated as and when the situation changes."

Eyewitnesses say they have seen a bomb disposal squad at the terminal, but these claims have not been verified. Additional reports indicate that passengers are being kept on board their aircraft, reports Birmingham Live.

One eyewitness said: "Birmingham Airport has been sealed off to incoming vehicles, with passengers seen walking outside the terminal. A bomb disposal unit has been spotted entering the airport, and police officers are on the scene, guiding people away from the area.

"Further details are yet to emerge as authorities respond to the situation. Travellers are advised to avoid the area and follow official updates."
