Nottingham bus crash cordon stretches across city centre as woman dies in 'tragic' incident

A number of roads remain closed and a huge cordon in place following a fatal bus crash in Nottingham city centre. Lower Parliament Street is closed near to the Victoria Centre following the incident, which led to the death of a woman in her thirties.

The road is closed in both directions with multiple police vehicles at the scene. The woman was treated at the scene but died a short time later, Nottinghamshire Police said.

A cordon stretches from the junction of Broad Street to near the Victoria Centre. Three police cars, two vans including collision investigation are parked within the cordon.

A double-decker bus is in the middle of the street, and forensic officers have been seen carrying out investigations. George Street is also closed with a police cordon in place.

Drivers have been asked to avoid the area. Chief Inspector Dean Gallacher said: “This was a tragic incident and we are currently working to understand exactly what happened.

“The road will remain closed for some time as investigation work is carried out and we advise drivers to avoid the area until further notice.” Additional witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting incident 72 of October 22 2024.
