This is the scene in Nottingham city centre following a serious crash involving a bus. A huge police cordon remains in place on Lower Parliament Street near to the Victoria Centre.

The road remains closed in both directions and a number of bus services have been disrupted following the collision. In a statement, Nottinghamshire Police described the incident as a 'serious traffic collision' and warned that the road will be closed 'for some time'.

A spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham city centre. The road has been closed between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street for investigation work and will remain closed for some time.

"Drivers are advised to avoid the area. We thank you for your understanding and will provide further details later this morning."

Dozens of police cars remain at the scene, with several side streets sealed off by officers. Nottingham City Transport (NCT) said there are "severe delays" to its services due to the incident. In an update on its website, NCT said the closure affected its Green 5-11, Lilac 24-27 and Orange 34 services.
