Tragic final hours of artist Sarah Cunningham as body found
by Sam Cooper, Julia Banim · NottinghamshireLiveA body has been found in the search for Sarah Cunningham, a talented artist who disappeared. The 31-year-old, from Nottingham, was last spotted around 3am on Saturday, November 2, on Jamestown Road in Camden, North London.
Following her disappearance, a desperate search was launched, with police issuing a description of Sarah as a slim woman, 5ft 3in tall, and circulating a photo of her dressed in a black top, black skirt, and black Converse trainers. Tragically, Sarah's family has been notified after a body was discovered on the tracks at Chalk Farm underground station at 1.11 am.
The Met Police issued an appeal on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, stating: "Have you seen Sarah? Sarah, 31, was last seen at about 3 am on Sat 2 Nov on Jamestown Road, Camden, NW1. Anyone who sees her or has any information is asked to call 101 and give ref: CAD 2349/02Nov."
Family and friends turned to social media to help find Sarah, with her acquaintance, playwright Lance SA Nielson, noting her disappearance as 'out of character', reports the Mirror.
Her boyfriend, Jack Brown, taking to Facebook, expressed his distress: "My girlfriend Sarah Cunningham has been missing in Camden since 2:30am this morning [Saturday], she was last seen leaving an apartment building on Jamestown Road."
He informed that she had been "officially missing" and appealed for any information about her. Echoing the sentiment, Sarah's brother Anthony Cunningham also posted: "My sister Sarah Cunningham has been missing since 0230am [on Saturday] in Camden. Last seen leaving apartment building on Jamestown Road. She was wearing a black outfit. If you have any information please let me or the police know. she has been officially reported as missing."
Sarah, a renowned artist whose work is celebrated in artistic circles worldwide, recently had work showcased at the Lisson Gallery in LA. Today (November 4) police confirmed the discovery of a body, announcing: "At around 01.11hrs on Monday, 4 November emergency services were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Chalk Farm Underground Station."
"While we await formal identification, Sarah's family have been informed of this development. They have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time. Officers from the Met are working with colleagues in the British Transport Police to look into the circumstances. The death is being treated as unexpected but at this time it is not thought to be suspicious."
