Helaleh Cheraghmakani, the 34-year-old pedestrian who died in a bus crash in the city centre, has been described by her family as 'a rare soul' and 'the most genuine person you could meet'. Helaleh died from her injuries after she was hit by a Nottingham City Transport bus in Lower Parliament Street on the morning of Tuesday, October 22.

In a moving tribute, she was described by her family as a 'devoted wife and a loving mother'. In a statement, her family said: "Helaleh was a rare soul – the most genuine person you could meet.

“She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and, at just 34, she was old enough to carry lifelong dreams and hopes. Heartbreakingly, she was taken from us too soon. Helaleh faced life’s challenges with courage – always putting others before herself. Her strength and responsibility inspired everyone who knew her.

"She had a way of caring deeply for everyone she met, bringing warmth and kindness into every room. Her innocent departure leaves a profound emptiness in our lives, but her memory will live on in the love she gave and the lives she touched.

“We will always remember her for the joy she brought and the unwavering compassion that defined her life."

The 34-year-old was treated by the emergency services at the scene but died a short time later. Dawn Shaw, the co-director and manager of Learning Works for Children, a nursery based on Carlton Road attended by Helaleh's daughter Liana, previously paid tribute.

An online fundraising page has also been set up to support Helaleh's family in the wake of her passing. The GoFundMe page, established by friend Elaheh Arjmand, carries a statement which says: "She touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth, kindness, and strength. Her passing has left all of us heartbroken, especially her husband Ramin who must now struggle to navigate this unimaginable loss.

"As we come to terms with the deep loss of Helaleh, it's our turn to uplift her family as they face the immense emotional and financial burden that comes with such a sudden loss." Those wishing to donate to the fundraiser can do so here.

At the time of writing, more than £13,000 has been raised.
