Driver fighting for life after car leaves road and smashes into building in Lawrence Weston

A driver has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Bristol this morning, Tuesday, October 22. Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Long Cross, in Lawrence Weston, just before 5am.

The collision involved a black Mini which left the road. Pictures taken at the scene show that the car crashed through a wire fence before smashing through the wall of a building in northwest Bristol.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was taken to hospital with "potentially life-threatening" injuries, Avon and Somerset Police have said. Their family has been contacted.

At the time of writing (1.15pm), Long Cross remains closed for investigation and vehicle recovery. Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam footage to come forward.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police has said: "Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle collision on Long Cross just before 5am on Tuesday 22 October.

"A black Mini left the road. The driver and sole occupant has gone to hospital with injuries currently described as potentially life-threatening. Their family have been contacted. Long Cross remains closed for collision investigation and pending the recovery of the vehicle.
