Operation continues in Sopore after a brief pause during night - Greater Kashmir
by Syed Rizwan Geelani · Greater KashmirSopore, Nov 08: The operation continued on Friday morning in the Sagipora area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district after a brief pause in firing from both the sides during the night.
The gunfight resumed between militants and the security forces as the firing from both the sides started again during the wee hours of Friday.
Already reported, the encounter broke out on Thursday evening after a joint operation was launched by the JK Police and 22 RR of the Indian Army.
“Firing was suspended during the late hours of Thursday due to darkness,” an official said.
Around two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped inside a residential house.
Notably, it is the third encounter in the north Kashmir range during this week.
Earlier, two foreign terrorists were killed while ammunition was recovered from slain in two separate gunfights in the Bandipora and Lolab forests this week.
Around five militants were killed in different encounters during the first week of November.
