2 Chinese nationals injured after being shot at in Karachi - Greater Kashmir
by GK NEWS SERVICE · Greater KashmirNew Delhi, Nov 5: Two Chinese nationals were shot and injured on Tuesday in Karachi, Pakistan’s commercial hub, amid the continuing rise in attacks targeting Chinese citizens, according to police and hospital officials. This incident comes on the heels of recent violence in late October when two Chinese were killed in a blast that has prompted China to call for enhanced security measures for its nationals in Pakistan, news agencies reported.
Faizan Ali, a senior superintendent of police, confirmed to Reuters the shooting of the two Chinese individuals, though details remain limited. The spokesperson for Liaquat National Hospital, where the injured are being treated, also reported to the news agency that one of the victims is in critical condition. While it is unclear who carried out the attack, recent events have heightened fears among Chinese nationals living and working in Pakistan.
Chinese investments and infrastructure projects in Pakistan, especially those linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), have faced resistance from separatist militant groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
