Encounter breaks out in north Kashmir's Sopore - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 07: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday night.

Reports said that the gunfight broke out after the police and security forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the Sagipora area.

   

They said that three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

“On 07 Nov 24, based on specific intelligence regarding presence of terrorists, a joint Operation launched by the #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice in Panipura, Sopore, #Baramulla. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. Own troops effectively retaliated,” Army said in a post on X.

Kashmir Police Zone said that a joint anti-terrorist operation was launched in Panipora area of Sopore after presence of terrorists. They said during searches exchange of fire took place.
