A 76-year-old woman was killed in Secunderabad after she was allegedly thrown from the second floor of her house by her grandson. The incident unfolded on Monday, October 21, around 5 pm in Kavadiguda area of Secunderabad. The accused reportedly has a history of mental illness.

According to the police, the incident occurred after the accused, 32-year-old Nithin, became agitated following an argument with his younger brother Gopi. The two brothers and their mother, Challa Kalavathi, live in Unnikota in Kavadiguda area. The victim, Kotha Sushila, was staying with them.

According to the police, the argument escalated when Nithin, who had been struggling with mental health issues since 2015, asked his mother for money and was refused. Nithin allegedly threatened to harm his grandmother if his mother didn’t give him Rs 50.

As per police reports, while his mother was downstairs filling water, Nithin allegedly threw his grandmother, who was seated on a chair, from the second-floor balcony onto the concrete road below.

Family members, including Kalavathi’s sister and brother-in-law, rushed to Sushila’s aid but found her unresponsive. An ambulance was called, but paramedics confirmed that she had died on the spot from severe injuries to her legs, arms, and head.

The victim’s daughter, Kalavathi, filed a complaint with the police, accusing her son Nithin, who works as a security guard in a private firm, of intentionally causing her mother’s death.

A case has been registered at Gandhinagar police station. Nithin has been detained for questioning, and the investigation is underway.
