Delhi New CM Atishi Marlena Swearing-in ceremony Live: In her first address after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi said it was a “very emotional moment” for the AAP leaders. “Although i have taken oath as the CM….but this is a very emotional moment for us because Arvind Kejriwal is no longer the Chief Minister of Delhi — he is the person who transformed Delhi, the one who changed the future of the students studying in government school, he is the person who helped women be more independent by providing them with free bus tickets, the one who transformed government healthcare,” Atishi said.

Days after her being named the CM-designate, AAP leader Atishi took oath to become the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi at the Raj Niwas on Saturday. Five other newly appointed ministers — Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain, Kailash Gahlot, and new Sultanpur Majra MLA Mukesh Ahlawat — were also sworn-in as ministers in the Delhi government. Newly sworn-in minister and AAP leader Mukesh Ahlawat has been given SC ST Welfare and Labour, among other portfolios. Meanwhile, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has been allocated the Social Welfare and Cooperative/Cooperation as additional departments.

Kejriwal and his house: Outgoing Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will hold a ‘Janta ki Adalat’ (people’s court) at 11 am in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to address the corruption charges levelled against him by both the the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and) in the excise policy case. Meanwhile, the AAP has also requested government accommodation for Kejriwal, highlighting his role as the convener of a national party. “He does not own property or a personal home. As the convener of a national party, he is entitled to government accommodation, and we urge the Centre to provide it,” AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said.

Following the swearing-in, the new CM Atishi will prove majority at a special session of the Delhi Assembly, which is set to be convened on September 26-27, said officials.

The ceremony today comes after outgoing CM Kejriwal proposed Atishi’s name, which was unanimously supported by the MLAs. He posted “best wishes to Atishi”on X later.

“First of all, I want to thank Delhi’s beloved CM and my guru, Arvind Kejriwal, for giving me such a big responsibility. AAP MLAs met earlier this week and unanimously chose Atishi as the leader of the ruling legislature party.

The new Delhi seven-member Cabinet comprises Sultanpur Majra MLA Mukesh Ahlawat, a new entrant. The others include ministers Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Imran Hussain.

The resignation of Arvind Kejriwal and former Patel Nagar MLA Raaj Kumar Anand, who left for BSP and then the BJP, resulted in the vacancies. According to sources, while Ahlawat has been inducted in the cabinet to replace Anand, deliberations over the second addition are still underway owing to differing views regarding representation.
