Teenager dies in Galway tractor tragedy as gardai launch investigation

Gardai have launched an investigation following a fatal road traffic incident in Co Galway yesterday.

Gardai and emergency services were alerted to a serious incident involving a tractor, which took place in Rinn, in the Oranmore area of Galway at approximately 3.30pm on Saturday, November 2.

A male passenger, aged 19 years old, who was injured in the incident was rushed to hospital but, tragically, he was pronounced deceased.

The road has since reopened following a technical examination, while no other injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic incident near Oranmore, Co. Galway yesterday afternoon, Saturday 2nd November 2024.

"Gardaí were alerted to an incident involving a tractor which occurred on a local road in Rinn, Oranmore at approximately 3:30pm.

"A male passenger, 19-years-old, injured in the incident was transferred by ambulance personnel to University Hospital Galway, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

"No other injuries were reported.

"The scene was preserved for a technical examination which has since taken place and the road has reopened.

"A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the family of the deceased."
