[Watch] 22 Killed After Bus Falls Into Gorge In Uttarakhand’s Almora

New Delhi: At Least 22 passengers were killed after a bus fell into a gorge near Ramnagar in Uttarakhand’s Almora district on Monday morning. The bus was overloaded and several children were among those killed, News18 reported quoting sources.

The bus was going from Garhwal to Kumaon. The accident took place at Marchula in Almora, District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey was quoted as saying. There were around 40 passengers in the bus when it fell into a 200-metre-deep gorge, Pandey said.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the administration to carry out relief operations swiftly. He has also instructed that the severely injured passengers be airlifted.

“The unfortunate news has come in regarding the casualties of passengers in a bus accident that occurred in Marchula, Almora district. The district administration has been directed to swiftly carry out relief and rescue operations. Local administration and SDRF teams are actively working at the accident site to evacuate the injured and transport them to the nearest health centre. Instructions have also been given to airlift severely injured passengers if necessary,” Dhami tweeted.
