Devon police officer accused of making false statement to get gun certificate
by Toby Codd · DevonLiveA Devon and Cornwall Police officer has been accused of making a false statement in order to get a gun certificate. Police Constable Sean Tooley, from South Devon, will appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Tuesday, November 5).
The 32-year-old has been charged with two counts of making a false statement in order to procure grant or renewal of a firearm or shot gun certificate. They relate to two incidents which occurred in December 2023, when he was not on duty.
Devon and Cornwall Police said: "A Devon & Cornwall Police officer is due to appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 5 November. Police Constable Sean Tooley, aged 32, from South Devon, is charged with two counts of making a false statement in order to procure grant or renewal of a firearm or shot gun certificate.
"The charges relate to two incidents which occurred in December 2023, when the officer was not on duty. PC Tooley was interviewed under police caution in August 2024 and has remained on restricted duties since that time."
