The two-year-old was tragically killed after a crash on Rowley Close in Wembley at around 7.15pm on Sunday evening.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after the boy was knocked down by the car.
Despite efforts to save his life the two-year-old was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
A local told The Sun that the toddler was playing on the drive in front of his uncle's car, when he reversed out of the drive while the child was still there.
The boy's uncle was in the car and 'just backed out' while the child was still there.
A neighbour said: ''The boy's mum was telling the driver to stop - but he still went.'
Neighbours have heard the boy's mother crying in her house ever since it happened.
Another said: 'Everyone in the close can hear the mum crying in her house since it happened.'
In a statement on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police told MailOnline: 'Police are investigating a fatal collision that took place in Rowley Close, Wembley at around 7.15pm on Sunday, 27 October.
'A car was in collision with a two-year-old boy at the location. He was taken to hospital but despite the best efforts of medical staff he sadly died.
'The driver of the car has been spoken to. They have not been arrested.
'Enquiries continue and anyone with information which would assist is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton on 020 8246 9820.'
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We were called at 6.58pm on Sunday 27 October to reports of an incident on Acton Lane, NW10.
'We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London's Air Ambulance.
'Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a child was pronounced dead at the scene.'
