by · Mail Online

A stunned wife has gone viral after sharing the brutally honest letter she received from her husband.

The woman, a perfume and beauty influencer named Joy, posted the letter to X - formerly Twitter - with the caption, 'Ladies… choose yourself. I woke up to this nonsense after almost 11 years of marriage.'

The letter, which has been viewed 20 million times online, said, 'I have to come forward with my truth.'

It continued, 'I hate to do it this way but it's now or never because what I'm about to say has to be said.'

While many would assume that the man, named Fred, was about to deliver some heartbreaking news to his longtime wife, it turns out that the letter was actually a tongue-in-cheek joke.

In the next paragraph, Fred goes on to say that he's planning to watch the New York Knicks play and doesn't want to be disturbed while the game is on.

'That means from 7pm to whatever time the game ends I will not be a husband or father,' he wrote.

'Y'all are on your own for a couple of hours.

'No I will not watch our shows with you. No I will not get you something sweet. I will not take the dog out.'

He added, 'I will sit on my couch, drink in hand and I will watch the game.'

Fred also gave their young son permission to stay up late with him, but only to watch the game.

'I look forward to seeing and talking to you later. AFTER the game, that is,' he finished.

After sharing the letter online, Joy wrote, 'I won't even lie… he had me nervous at first, then I laughed so hard… this made my morning.'

While many would assume that Fred was about to deliver some heartbreaking news to his longtime wife, it turns out that the letter was actually a tongue-in-cheek joke

People in the comments were equally as delighted by the letter, with one writing, 'Not gonna lie I was NOT expecting that it had me going the first half.

'Kudos to you both for having a fun marriage and messing with each other.'

Another commented, 'That brother living in his truth. See how we get treated when we are honest and vulnerable?'

A third added, 'You can tell this family is filled with love and jokes man. I’m crying.'
