Until I Kill You viewers not impressed after spotting problem
by Amelia Wynne For Mailonline · Mail OnlineUntil I Kill You viewers were not impressed after spotting a 'shockingly bad' problem just minutes into the new ITV drama.
The new series stars Anna Maxwell Martin as Delia Balmer in the show inspired by Balmer's book about living with serial killer John Sweeney.
Agency nurse Delia meets John who confesses to killing his ex-girlfriend and attacks her before evading capture.
Balmer rebuilds her life to confront Sweeney seven years later, after he was arrested for another murder.
But those watching were baffled as soon as it began by Anna Maxwell-Martin's accent.
They wrote on X: 'Great drama, but is anyone else finding Anna Maxwell Martin's accent a bit odd and inconsistent.',
'Yes me. Finding it a bit annoying.',
'It's shockingly bad. I really don't like her as an actress, but was told how good this was. Not convinced in the slightest.'
Last week Anna, 47, appeared on Wednesday's instalment of This Morning where she joined hosts Alison Hammond, 49, and Dermot O'Leary, 51, to discuss the new drama series.
The British actress said she felt a little bit of pressure playing a real-life person as she didn't want to be 'disrespectful'.
She said: 'There's only pressure in that you don't want to be disrespectful and get it wrong.
'So you have to be quite diligent in your work, you can't be lazy and say I'll phone it in on the day, otherwise you wouldn't be doing your job.'
She added: 'I can definitely finish the work and go home and have a gin and tonic because it's not my life, it's not my story.
'And I think to wear it heavier than that would be to say you are walking in someone's shoes and you're not.
'Delia suffered terribly, she has gone on to thrive in her life and that's to be admired. It affected Delia, it didn't happen to me.'

She also discussed the possibility of a Motherland comeback, in which she stars as Julia, a working mother who struggles with the responsibilities that come with raising children.
The actress claimed that she felt lucky to star in the BBC sitcom, but couldn't confirm whether or not the show will be getting a new series.
Motherland, created by Sharon Horgan and starring Maxwell Martin with Diane Morgan, Paul Ready, Tanya Moodie, Lucy Punch and Philippa Dunne, ran for three seasons and last aired in 2022 for a Christmas special.
Asked whether there would be any new episodes, Anna said: 'I don't know. Obviously, there's brilliant Amandaland coming with Lucy (Punch, who played Amanda) and Phil (Dunne, Amanda's sidekick Anne), so I'm really pleased about that.'
She continued: 'So maybe that will fill the hole that is left and I'm sure that will do really, really well. I'm so glad the girls have got that show.'
She also discussed Line Of Duty, in which she played the famously frosty DCS Patricia Carmichael.
She gushed: 'I love Pat. I'd do that again in a heartbeat, that part, I absolutely had a laugh. (The audience) didn't like her, but you know... good!'
Reflecting on working with Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Vicky McClure, she added: 'I didn't feel pressure because I felt so lucky. Some jobs, you just think, 'oh my god I feel so lucky to be here.'
'I would have made a cup of tea in the back of shot - I just felt really lucky to be there. I didn't feel pressure. I just thought, 'yippee!''
