Woman found stabbed to death as 55-year-old is charged with murder

A 55-year-old woman has been charged with murder after a police investigation.

Emergency services raced to a home in Enfield, North London and tragically found the body of 62-year-old Efthyia Constantinou.

Zaneta Peto, 55, also known as Maria Peto was arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of Friday morning. 

Met Police were called to the home on Westerham Avenue shortly before 5pm on Wednesday, October 30. 

Peto, of Charles Street, Enfield, appeared at Highbury Magistrates' Court today charged with murder. A photo of Constantinou has now been released to the public.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, from the Specialist Crime Command, said: 'Our sincerest condolences are offered to Efthyia's family, friends and the wider community who are so deeply saddened by her death.

'The investigation is at an early stage, but I can confirm that Zaneta was known to the victim and that we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident.

'Efthyia's family continue to be supported by specially trained officers.'

Detective Superintendent Marco Bardetti, leading local policing in Enfield and Haringey, said: 'I know that local people will be concerned by this shocking loss of life and there will be a heightened police presence in the area in the coming days to provide reassurance.

'A crime scene remains in place, and I would like to thank local people for their patience while our specialist crime colleagues, supported by local officers, conduct their inquiries.

'If you are concerned or worried, please do feel free to approach officers as they patrol or contact your local neighbourhood policing team.

'Our thoughts are with the victim's family at this sad time.'
