Mother killed along with her one-year-old son in school bus crash

Grieving family members have paid tribute to a mum and one-year-old baby killed in a crash with a school bus.

The woman, named locally as Sian Goffin, 31, and the infant boy were rushed to hospital after their Vauxhall Astra crashed into a double-decker bus in Mullion, Cornwall on Monday morning.

Both later died from their injuries.

Twenty seven children on the school bus sustained minor injuries and one child from the bus sustained serious injuries but these are not considered life-threatening.

Friends and family paid tribute to mum-of-two Sian with one posting: ‘It’s with a heavy heart that I have to tell you all that Sian Goffin has passed away following the horrific accident on Monday morning.

Relative Shannon Goffin added: ‘I honestly cannot believe I'm having to write this... but it's with heavy hearts to let you know that sadly Sian Goffin has grown her wings and has passed away.

Toni-Rose, paid tribute to her ‘best friend’ Sian adding: ‘It’s been a devastating last few days, but now you’re finally at peace.

‘To my best friend and partner in crime. I love you beyond words and more than you’ll ever know. 31 years old is no age but my angel you have grown your wings and you are with your mum now.

‘I am honoured to have spent the time we have together, I will treasure them forever and your babies. You were loyal, loving, funny, grumpy & whiny but no one would want you any other way!’

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were called to the B3296 Meaver Road at around 8.40am on Monday 14 October to reports of a crash involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a double decker school bus.

None of the school children are considered to have suffered life-threatening injuries

Sergeant Phil Brown from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team said: ‘We are deeply saddened that a woman and child have now died following the collision in Mullion earlier this week.

‘It is impossible to put into words the grief those close to them are feeling right now.

‘Our thoughts continue to be with everybody involved as we continue to work with the school and partners to make sure everybody receives the support they require following this tragic collision.’
