Motorcyclist sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries after collision

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.

A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with significant injuries Sunday afternoon following a collision in southeast Calgary.

The man, in his 20s, was travelling northbound on Macleod Trail S.E. approaching 39th Ave S.E. at about 5 p.m., when the driver of a Subaru Forester attempted to make a left-hand turn onto 39th, said Calgary police.

The SUV struck the motorcycle, throwing the rider off his motorcycle.

The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. The 30-year-old driver of the SUV was not injured and remained on the scene.

Speed, alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision.
