Margot drew praise on social media for her youthful looks

The Chase fans were gobsmacked as it was revealed a contestant was celebrating her 91st birthday on the quiz show. Margot was welcomed by host Bradley Walsh on the hit ITV show on Wednesday (March 2), along with fellow contestants Ria, Tom and Colin.

He quickly informed the audience of the special occasion, telling viewers at home: "That is my team and more importantly it is Margot's 91st birthday today." But those watching at home couldn't believe the psychotherapist from Maidenhead was in her nineties.

After Bradley wished her a happy birthday, Margot gave viewers more background to her interesting life story. She revealed she had written a book when she was aged 80.

She told Bradley: "I'm 91, I live in Maidenhead but I used to live in Sonning for 50 years. However I wasn't born in England I was born in Germany arrived in 1939 with my parents in the East End of London.

"I wrote a book 10 years ago, I'm more surprised than you that I'm still here." She added that she would spend any prize winnings on a new TV.

Viewers rushed to Twitter to praise her youthful looks. Dwangeddy wrote: "91? Who's Margot kidding #TheChase."

Carly B said: "She is NEVER 91 # TheChase. " J O'Connell added: "Margot looks better at 91 than I do at 31 #TheChase."

Stu scott agreed: "Jesus, I'm 48 and don't look as good as Margot. #TheChase." Jac Ferguson commented: "Hope I look as good as Margot at 91! #TheChase."

Anna wrote: "Please let me look as good as Margot at 91 #TheChase." A__hufflepuff added: "Margot looks great for 91 #TheChase."

The contestants also drew attention for the link between their names. Fans pointed out that they made up the names of cocktails. The contestants were up against Jenny Ryan, aka The Vixen, for a shot at winning a large prize.
