James Martin was back on our screens with a fresh installment of his ITV1 show Saturday Morning, accompanied by an array of guests who kept him company as he prepared delicious dishes.

Lucy Beaumont stepped into the kitchen with James and discussed her career while he rustled up a tasty lentil dish, especially for her.

But the segment didn't sit well with some viewers, prompting them to take to X, previously known as Twitter, to air their grievances about Lucy's appearance on the show.

One viewer commented: "Can't stand these interviews with comedians where the comedian gives the host a list of questions they have to ask them so they can churn out their rehearsed jokes #JamesMartinsSaturdayMorning #JamesMartin."

Another said with a hint of humour: "Not sure if @LucyABeaumont is playing the fool, or just not funny. James is struggling either way. #jamesmartin", reports the Express.

A frustrated fan remarked: "She's not that funny, in my view. Then again, I don't think Yorkshire folks are naturally funny either, in general. How many comedians hail from Yorkshire? The North West, on the other hand.."

Someone else queried: "Why can't you recite Shakespeare with a Hull accent? @LucyABeaumont #SaturdayKitchen."

Additionally, another observer opined: "@sat_jamesmartin quite annoying that 'comedienne' Lucy Beaumont makes a living out of peddling the notion, Northerners are a little bit thick and Southerners have arrived and are so sophisticated. Its not the Victorian era anymore." (sic).

While many fans were in stitches, one viewer tweeted: "@lucybeaumont Oh I love you. How long is a plank of wood? @JamesMartin #SaturdayMorning."

Despite her soaring career, Lucy's personal life has hit a rough patch. In April, the comedian revealed that she and her husband, fellow comic Jon Richardson, have decided to part ways after nine years together.

The couple share a daughter, Elsie Louise, who was welcomed into the world in September 2016 and is now seven years old.

James Martin's Saturday Morning returns next Saturday at 9:30am on ITV1 and ITVX.
