Eamonn Holmes and girlfriend Katie Alexander 'first messaged 12 years ago'

by · Birmingham Live

Former ITV This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes reportedly first messaged his now-girlfriend 12 years ago. The star is said to have exchanged in conversation with Katie Alexander back in 2012.

Eamonn and wife of 14-years, Ruth Langsford, announced that they were divorcing earlier this year with the 64-year-old now dating 42-year-old Katie. And previous reports said the pair connected on social media in 2015, bur new claims suggest they actually met three years earlier.

Katie’s ex-husband George, who she divorced in 2022 after 12 years of marriage, is said to have been a part of their early friendship. George, 53, joked that there was "flirting" between Katie and Eamonn, even quipping on X, previously known as Twitter: "Good job we're both Red," referencing their mutual support for Manchester United, Express reports.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: "We knew Eamonn and Katie got together via social media, but no one knew how far back they went. Ruth will be shocked they were in contact 12 years ago. I don't think she would have known."

An insider added: "At the outset George joined in with the online banter. He would never have guessed Katie was going to get together with Eamonn years down the line," they shared.

There is no hint that Eamonn and Katie were involved romantically while they were both married. In a statement from their representative in May, Ruth and Eamonn's split was confirmed, saying: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

The Express has reached out to Eamonn's representatives for comment.
