Martin Lewis says 'shame' as Rachel Reeves turns down ITV show and says 'no idea why'
by Isabelle Bates, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/isabelle-bates/ · Birmingham LiveMartin Lewis has shared a message to Chancellor Rachel Reeves after she seemingly turned down an invitation to appear on his ITV show. It comes after Reeves announced the Autumn Budget 2024 yesterday (October 30).
And now that MoneySavingExpert founder has said that it is a 'shame' that she will not be appearing on The Martin Lewis Money Show Live after they "put in a bid weeks ago." In a statement on X, Martin said that Reeves was given the chance to appear on the programme either live or in a pre-recorded segment.
He added: "So it looks like @RachelReeves isn't coming on @itvMLshow live budget special tonight 8pm. We put in a bid weeks ago (for live or pre-recorded). Was told it was being considered, but have not heard anything."

Martin continued: "Shame as we're most watched current affairs show on TV by miles, no idea why her press team would put her on far less viewed political shows but not mainstream consumer tv?
"Don’t worry though, it means more time for me to go through the detail of what it means for you (and the chancellor misses the chance to give her interpretation)."
In response, one X user claimed: "She’s scared, they know they’ve lied." Another said: "She's having to address the markets . Emergency talks to try and calm her situation."
A third added: "They must be too busy “fixing the foundations” Whatever that means."
