ITV viewers complain after spotting major Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? mix-up

Viewers tuning into Sunday night's edition (November 3) of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? were left scratching their heads as they highlighted the same issue.

Jeremy Clarkson returned as the host of the popular ITV game show, welcoming Doug Cheetham from Kidderminster as the first contestant.

Despite high expectations, viewers were quickly thrown into confusion just moments into the programme, sparking discussions on whether they were watching a repeat or new material.

The confused unfolded as the 39th series of the programme had wrapped up in October, reports the Mirror.

Baffled fans flocked to social media platforms like Twitter, now X, with one posting: "Is this a new episode?"

Another expressed surprise: "I thought this had finished last week."

A third viewer was puzzled, commenting: "Are they mixing up new and old episodes? I think freeview tells me this is series 20 episodes 17?"

The mystery deepened with remarks such as "How is this a new episode? They have Covid screens between the contestants."

Someone else wrote: "They must have forgotten this episode cos last week it ended another series."

Another viewer pondered the airing delay, commenting: "This must have been an episode recorded in early 2022 that has been sat on the shelf all this time. Notice the lack of handshakes. Odd why ITV didn't put it out with the other episodes of the series."

An update on X brought clarity for viewers, explaining: "If you're confused about the episode of #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire which are airing on ITV right now... they're old episodes (not connected to the series which finished a fortnight ago) which have been left on the shelf (as you can tell by the Covid screens)."

Jeremy Clarkson's role as the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? appears to be secure, with reports indicating he will remain at the helm of the hit quiz show.

Fans of the programme will be delighted to hear that ITV has confirmed the return of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Celebrity specials this winter, with an exciting roster of celebrities lined up to win big for charity.

Insiders hint that the forthcoming celebrity specials could be "the best season yet", ramping up the excitement. This comes hot on the heels of the Clarkson's Farm presenter revealing his recent health scare, having had emergency heart surgery following a serious illness while on holiday.

In a piece for the Sunday Times, Jeremy Clarkson detailed his alarming ordeal, describing how he suddenly found himself unable to rise from the breakfast table and questioning whether his "limbs were working properly".

But Jeremy's health woes didn't stop there; he also faced difficulties with simple activities like swimming and walking. After feeling a worrying "tightening in his chest" once back in the UK, he was swiftly taken to hospital by ambulance.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is available to watch on ITVX.
