Boots shoppers race to buy £114 aftershave that's now £51 making it 'cheaper than Duty Free'

The health and beauty retailer has slashed the price of a number of popular perfumes and aftershaves

Christmas shoppers have been rushing to Boots to get their hands on a 200ml bottle of aftershave that’s now better than half-price. It comes as the health and beauty retailer has introduced a range of fragrances into its rotating ‘star gifts’, which, for a limited time, has seen a best-selling men’s scent cut by more than 50%.

I used to work on the perfume counter at Boots, and Hugo Boss fragrances are without doubt one of the most popular when it comes to gifting. And the brand’s Boss Bottled Night 200ml has been reduced from £114 to £51, saving £63 on the RRP.

A warm, spicy and woody scent, it boasts notes of birch leaf, cardamom and musky to create a ‘sensual, edgy’ scent that's proven to be a real hit with shoppers. And now cheaper than Duty Free where the same size bottle is £94.20, it’s no surprise that bargain hunters have been snapping it up to put away for December.

The aftershave has earned a 4.3-star rating on the Boots website, where shoppers have praised the value price and ‘amazing scent’. One said: “Brought as a gift for my Fiancé, massive bottle for such a great price Hugo boss is amazing and makes for a lovely day-to-day aftershave.”

“Amazing scent, my husband loves this scent and so do I,” said another. “It’s fresh long lasting. Always look for a bargain- boots never fails to provide one”

The bottle has been price-matched over at Amazon, too, where more than 24,000 customers have reviewed Boss Bottled Night Eau de Toilette. One shopper said: "Good price. Fast delivery. Given as a gift, but I know it smells divine!"

A second wrote: "Amazing scent. I love it and after about 20 minutes it gives off a lovely soft, fresh smell. I think it would suit most males. I feel it has quite a classy smell, too."

One person, however, had a slight issue with the longevity of the scent. They explained: "A great, fresh, vibrant, modern scent which comes in an attractive bottle. It doesn't need to be saved as a night scent, despite the name, as it can easily pass as a sporty, uplifting aftershave for daytime business. The only slight issue is that it doesn't stay on for particularly long."

Other Star Gift savings at Boots include the Rabanne Pure XS Eau De Toilette 50ml, now £34 down from £57. Or, for her, Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid Eau de Parfum 30ml is down from £67 to £43.50.
