Eamonn Holmes is said to have no regrets over his behaviour, which allegedly contributed to the end of his marriage with Ruth Langsford.

The forthright TV presenter parted ways with his wife Ruth in May this year after a 27-year relationship. The television duo, known for co-hosting programmes like This Morning, were married for 14 years and have a 22 year old son, Jack.

However, Eamonn's apparent disdain for his former This Morning colleague Phillip Schofield and his resentment over being dropped from ITV reportedly became so intense that it created an 'awkward' situation for Ruth, who continues to appear regularly on the ITV show Loose Women.

A source close to Eamonn - who has since moved on with his 42 year old girlfriend Katie Alexander - alleges that the presenter stands by his public outbursts, which are believed to have not helped his marital situation.

The insider told the Daily Mail: "Eamonn's dislike for Phillip has existed for a long time, but it became very public at the end of his marriage to Ruth. And as his hatred for him and ITV grew, the cracks in their relationship grew deeper.", reports the Mirror.

"Ruth became a bit dismayed at Eamonn for making repeated digs at ITV after they were axed from This Morning. Ruth wasn't over the moon about it, but given she was still a cemented member of the Loose Women family, it made things somewhat awkward for her to have Eamonn criticising ITV."

A source close to Eamonn Holmes revealed that he harbours strong feelings towards Philip Schofield, saying: "But Eamonn loathes Philip and has no regrets about what he said and certainly doesn't think he threw him under the bus. He doesn't regret any of his behaviour. He believes he [Phil] is addicted to fame and he can't believe he's attempted to relaunch himself with his documentary last week."

The insider also mentioned that Eamonn is looking to put the past behind him and isn't interested in reconciling, stating: "Eamonn is 'trying to move on with his life and has no plans to ever make it up with Philip'."

The tension between the two TV personalities has escalated to such an extent that they're described as having 'one of the bitchiest feuds in showbiz', with both reportedly going out of their way to avoid each other.

The origins of their spat trace back to a live broadcast incident in 2019 when Phil interrupted Ruth Langsford on air, prompting her to lodge a formal complaint. Phil had interjected with: "Guys, we're going to have to jump in there and stop you I'm afraid because we're a bit tight for time at this end. Thank you Ruth," leading to Ruth's terse reply: "Well, I only had about two more words to say," followed by her visibly frustrated pen drop.

In a significant shake-up in 2021, Ruth and Eamonn were replaced on 'This Morning' by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary for the Friday slot after a 15-year stint. While Ruth has remained publicly silent on the matter, Eamonn has been vocal about the lack of explanation for their departure.

Representatives for Ruth and Eamonn have been approached by The Mirror for additional comments regarding the situation.
