by · Birmingham Live

BBC Countryfile fans were less than impressed with the show's recent episode, taking to social media to voice their dissatisfaction shortly after it aired.

The latest instalment saw presenters Matt Baker and Charlotte Smith visit a Cambridgeshire farm where innovative farmer David Mwanaka grows an expansive 485 acres of traditional Zimbabwean crops, such as white maize.

Additionally, the programme included features on a community farm cultivating rare varieties like oca and quinoa and Adam Henson assisting with a tea harvest in Cornwall.

However, viewers quickly expressed their displeasure online, with some labelling the episode "boring."

One unhappy viewer tweeted: " Boring #countryfile today," as reported by the Express.

Another added their criticism, saying: "This first story is really terribly done - nothing but a never-ending pointless interview- no one does anything except drive to nowhere, apparently."

Commenting on the maize segment, a viewer remarked: "Just what you want at a crucial time for the harvest .... Matt Baker, in a flat cap, asking inane questions #countryfile."

"I can't believe what I'm watching on @BBCCountryfile tonight. maize and specialty Cornish-grown tea-our farmers must be spitting feathers," expressed another disgruntled fan.

Additionally, one viewer suggested that the programme's producers should consider altering their approach, remarking: "I'd have preferred a more general Harvest edition, like sort of news about many more farms and crops, #CountryFile."

Even with varied opinions, one fan expressed excitement on Twitter: "@BBCCountryfile Teabot in Cornwall. Fantastic, love it. I definitely want to buy some and drink some good real tea. Does that estate do tea tastings? "

In a notable segment, Matt interrupted the show to mention the Countryfile calendar, hinting at the core element of a successful family farm business by saying, "I think we are fast realising that the key to a farming enterprise like this, especially where family is concerned, is one thing."

Charlotte, curious for further details, encouraged: "Go on," prompting Matt to playfully suggest: "Yes, and there is one thing missing from around here."

Matt's playful demeanour shone through as he led on with: "Do you know where I am going with this?" As Charlotte grasped his reference, Matt smiled and announced, "Look at this. This is what they need; it's the Countryfile calendar."

Countryfile is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
