Alan Carr lands two ITV series at once in 'mind-blowing' deal
by Jamie Brassington, Joel Leaver, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/jamie-brassington/ · Birmingham LiveComedian Alan Carr says it's "utterly mind-blowing" that one of his TV shows has been renewed for two more series, adding it is a "huge compliment". The 48-year-old's sitcom Changing Ends launched on the streaming platform ITVX last year.
It is described as a "semi-autobiographical comedy". The first series later aired on ITV while a second series was released earlier this year, reports MirrorOnline.
It's now been announced that the acclaimed show has been recommissioned for a further third and fourth series. The broadcaster has shared that the series will be made up of six episodes each and be recorded back-to-back. Release dates have yet to be announced though for the two upcoming series.

Changing Ends is "based on" Alan's own life during the 1980s in Northampton. The presenter - who writes for the show and appears as 'himself' in it - grew up as the son of the former fourth division football manager Graham Carr, now 80, who managed Northampton Town FC as part of his career.
The cast includes Oliver Savell as young Alan, alongside co-stars like Shaun Dooley, Nancy Sullivan and Taylor Fay (Gary Carr), who play other members of the family. Gabby Best, Harry Peacock and Rourke Mooney also appear in it.
Discussing the announcement of its renewal, Alan said in a statement: "To get your own sitcom recommissioned for a series is the most wonderful news ever, but to have TWO series recommissioned is utterly mind-blowing and such a huge compliment which I do not take lightly." Alan continued: "I know how much this show has resonated with the viewers and I promise I won't let you down, and for someone whose actual life at times feels like a sitcom, believe me there are more tales from my childhood to be told.
"Two series commissioned eh? My dream of Changing Ends becoming Northampton's answer to the Crown becomes two steps closer to being a reality."
ITV's Head of Comedy, Nana Hughes said "Changing Ends continues to grow into becoming one of our most popular comedies with audiences clearly loving the early adventures of little Alan Carr. The cast is simply superb and the heart warming storytelling has clearly struck a chord with our viewers."
Whilst Sarah Monteith, the CEO of production company Baby Cow, said: "We're delighted that ITV have trusted us with not one but two more series of our hit comedy Changing Ends. We're having fun with Alan's early-teens era, it's getting emotional!"
ITV has announced that since the launch of the first series, Changing Ends has been streamed over 13 million times on ITVX. It adds that al episodes from series on and series two are available to watch for free on the streaming service.
