Strictly star Chris McCausland's wife was baffled by his complaint about her home
by Annabal Bagdi, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/annabal-bagdi/, Vikki White · Birmingham LiveStrictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has been receiving widespread acclaim from judges and viewers alike for his dazzling performances on the dance floor. Unfortunately, during last week's Halloween Week Samba to the Bee Gees' iconic Stayin' Alive he garnered a modest 26 points, finding himself at the tail end of the leaderboard.
Judge Shirley Ballas observed that he had "overcooked the bounce" in his performance, and Craig Revel Horwood commented on the "hopping" elements, while Anton Du Beke mentioned his routine lacked fluidity. Nevertheless, the 47-year-old comedian, who is the programme's inaugural blind contestant having lost his sight due to retinitis pigmentosa in his 20s and 30s, is tipped as the frontrunner for the Glitterball Trophy with the final set for Saturday, December 14.

Chris, notable for his appearances on 8 out of 10 Cats, leads a fulfilling life off-screen too. He's been happily married since 2012 to Patricia, his Brazilian partner whom he met 16 years prior when she was covering the Edinburgh Festival for television.
The couple, parents to 10-year-old Sophie, cherish their international romance, which has seen Chris visit Patricia's homeland of Rio De Janeiro. Reflecting on the Brazilian climate upon one trip, Chris recollected: "We landed and I'm not gonna exaggerate, it was 35 degrees," and quipped about his initial reaction, stating: "I even said to my wife: 'Not as hot as I thought it was gonna be to be honest'. A little bit hotter than I'd like at home during the summer if I was given the choice but bo***cks I'm on holiday, you make an effort don't ya. She said: 'It's midnight'."
The comedian had an epiphany when daylight broke, remarking in a snippet from one of his stand-up performances shared on Instagram: "It was 49 degrees at Christmas," adding, "Even the locals were moaning about it. I thought what chance has a Scouser got if the Brazilian people are struggling? I've had sunstroke at the Reading Festival."
Chris and Patricia divulged details about their marriage on David Mitchell's show 'Outsiders', which also included comedian Alan Davies last year. When asked by Alan, "On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you in your relationship? " Patricia responded confidently, "I'll go for a good, solid nine and a half."
Explaining her near-perfect rating, she expressed: "And that's not to say I don't feel like it's a ten. I just feel there's always room for improvement because we've got that winning mentality, and that's why we're here."
A comedic scene unfolded as Chris feigned astonishment at her score, playfully retorting: "You'd go nine and a half? " As Patricia reaffirmed her score, Chris mimicked acceptance with, "Yeah nine and a half," yet he couldn't resist teasing further.
Patricia expressed gratitude at his concurrence, but Chris jokingly continued the banter with another incredulous "Nine and a half? " Alan then probed Chris for his "real number," prompting the comic to maintain matrimonial harmony by echoing the same score, "Nine and a half."
Despite a seemingly furious Patricia, Alan was hardly able to keep from laughing, ending up querying the couple, "Do you fight often? ".
