Great British Bake Off star Noel Fielding has opened up about the bizarre time he was stopped by the police while staying with Hole singer Courtney Love. The Channel 4 host revealed his 'favourite story' while appearing on a new episode of Never Mind The Buzzcocks on Sky TV.

With Love serving as a panellist on the other team on the episode, Noel says: "My favourite story was, I was staying at your house. It was the day after New Year's Day.

"And you gave me a pair of pyjamas. And you said...'Go to Hamburger Hamlet' and I walked there in the pyjamas. And the police stopped me and said 'Have you escaped from a mental home?'.

"And I said 'No, I'm staying with Courtney Love.' And they went, 'Okay, of course you are.'"

Noel has also recently reflected on his “partying” days with Love in the ‘00s. “I took partying to its logical conclusion,” he said. “When you’ve been partying with Kate Moss and Courtney Love, you’ve gone as far as you can go.

"A few friends ended up in rehab. I was sick of partying anyway and lucky enough to have my family at the right time. It was like: ‘This is what I was looking for!’”

Noel has two daughters with wife Lliana Bird. He started dating the radio DJ sometime around 2010.

The family live in the Highgate area of London. They named their first child, a daughter named Dali, born in 2018, after artist Salvador Dalí. The couple's second daughter was born in 2020 and was named Iggy, after rocker Iggy Pop.

The 32nd season of Never Mind The Buzzcocks premiered on Sky Max and NOW on Wednesday, October 16 at 9pm. The new series sees Fielding return as team captain opposite Daisy May Cooper, with Greg Davies hosting.

The series originally aired on BBC Two and ran from 1996 until 2015. It was rebooted by Sky in 2021.
