Sara Cox candidly shared her past struggles in a relationship that left her "emotionally stranded" before she became a household name. The 49-year-old broadcaster revealed to the Times how she felt trapped in an unhappy partnership during her early days in London, which involved her then-boyfriend stealing from her.

Cox, originally from Lancashire, moved to the capital and lived in a converted church in Arnos Grove, Enfield, where she experienced this low point. She told the Times: "I was in a very unhappy relationship when I first moved to London."

"I lived in a converted church in Arnos Grove in Enfield, north London. I was with this person who turned out to be horrible and he stole from me. I felt emotionally stranded there."

"Then I binned him off and the MTV [from 1997] and Big Breakfast [from 1998] years began."

After ditching the toxic relationship, Sara's career soared with stints on MTV and The Big Breakfast, following her initial foray into the limelight on Channel 4's The Girlie Show in 1996.

Now a beloved Radio 2 DJ, she lights up the airwaves during the drive time slot. Married to Ben Cyzer since 2013, Sara is a proud mum to three children and continues to reside in North London, albeit in more upscale digs.

Sara's home brims with an endearing collection of pets, including her sweet dog trio - Daisy, Dolly, and Pip - and two cats named Watson and Peggy. In addition, she has a pair of “quite posh” tortoises, Tom and Chally, to keep things interesting around the house.

The celebrity also owns a horse, Nelly, which she stabled nearby in Hertfordshire, claiming that the horse has immensely improved her life since she got it during lockdown. Fans can catch her on Saturday Kitchen today (Saturday, November 2), where she'll be joining host Matt Tebbutt, culinary experts Jay Rayner, Poppy O'Toole and Jeremy Lee, with wine connoisseur Olly Smith also on hand to provide wine pairings for the occasion.
