New Look is selling a new bag, and it's turning heads for its likeness to a much pricier designer item. The fashion-forward high street chain is known for offering trendy pieces at a steal, and it has potentially hit the jackpot again with the new Tan Borg Trim Link Hobo Bag which has a striking resemblance to an upscale YSL piece.

However, while shoppers can pick up the New Look option for just £28, those looking to sport the similar YSL small Le 5 à 7 suede shoulder bag would have to part with a hefty £2,065 when shopping online.

Both bags boast a chic suede effect complemented by a shearling trim, elegant gold hardware, a convenient adjustable strap, and a practical magnetic closure. Yet, despite their aesthetic similarities, the two differentiate in material – the luxury bag is genuine leather, while New Look opts for a vegan-friendly leather-look.

The design elements continue to echo each other with gold link detailing at the front, though the YSL boasts its unmistakable logo as an added luxe touch. Size-wise, the high street version inches ahead, offering a bit more room than its designer counterpart.

As per New Look's description: "Update your seasonal wardrobe with this borg trim hobo bag. Slip the adjustable strap over the shoulder to add the final touch to your layered look," reports the Mirror.

Priced at £27.99 at New Look versus the £2,065 tag at FarFetch for the YSL small Le 5 à 7 suede shoulder bag, customers are in for a substantial saving of approximately £2,037 by going for the high street rendition.

If you're a fan of the suede look but want to try a different style, several retailers have got you covered. M&S is stocking the Suede Cross Body Bag for £49.50, as well as the Suede Tote Bag for £130. River Island also has the Brown whipstitch suede shopper bag for £75.

New Look is selling the Tan Suedette Saddle Cross-Body Bag for £21.99, which has received glowing reviews online. One customer said: "A perfect size casual bag (not too big or too small). A lovely 'feel' and natural looking, autumnal colour."

"Adjustable strap for ideal preference length. Inner zip pocket. Press stud opening/closing. Very reasonable price. Value for money. Love this bag."
