Gabby Logan has admitted feeling "sad" after sending her daughter off to university, but now experiences a similar sensation to when she first started dating her husband Kenny, as they adapt to spending more time together.

BBC Sport presenter Gabby and former rugby international Kenny recently waved off daughter Lois, 19, as she made the move to university. It comes just a year after her twin brother Reuben left home to pursue a career in professional rugby.

Gabby, was on the brink of tears discussing Lois's departure on the Midpoint podcast, but is now adjusting to an "empty nest". She has been rediscovering hobbies and enjoying quality time with Kenny.

In an interview with Closer magazine, the 51-year-old said: "Although it's sad, it brings with it a lot of flexibility. You can do things you wouldn't have done before, and you're not clock watching for the end of school time or planning meals."

Gabby also mentioned that she is less concerned about what food is in the house now that she's not catering for "two ravenous teenagers". This has allowed her to enjoy being with Kenny, 23 years after they got married.

She added: "It reminds me of when Kenny and I first started going out. We used to live in Chiswick, Southwest London and I drove through there the other day and had a real flashback to our early life as a 20-something couple."

This moment sparked a desire in Gabby to rent out their current home and move to London "for a few years," reports Leeds Live.

Gabby had previously hinted at "testing the water" of living without Lois. To prepare for her absence, the couple have been enjoying long weekends away together without their kids.

In an interview with HELLO! magazine, Gabby shared: "It's been reassuring because the reality is that most of the time, it will just be you two."

She added, "Enjoying the company of the person you fell in love with is so important for longevity. Having time for us is a new kind of freedom, and the key is making plans and trying to find out what you both really want to do."

The former gymnast had previously expressed concerns about "running into problems" with her husband once their children left home, as their conversations had largely revolved around their kids for nearly two decades.

However, she has since found time to "invest" in herself, engaging in activities like Pilates, running, cold-water swimming, and working out.
