As the new series of Strictly Come Dancing swings into action, BBC audiences have been delighted to see Aljaz Skorjanec make his comeback.

Meanwhile, another familiar face from the show's past reveals he's up for a dazzling return.

BBC viewers witnessed a glamorous start to the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing as new celebrities graced the ballroom with their presence last month.

Despite fan-favourites Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima no longer in the show, the comeback of Aljaz Skorjanec to the ballroom floor stirred excitement amongst fans, following his departure in 2022.

But there's yet another ex-professional dancer who's open to the idea of making a striking return to the competition.

Vincent Simone, a former Strictly star from 2006 to 2012, discussed this year's series and his potential comeback exclusively with Express.co.uk via 10bet.

Vincent Simone left the BBC show in 2012

Vincent, reflecting on a possible reappearance on the BBC dance contest when asked by Express, praised the boost that Strictly gave to his career along with showcasing his exceptional skills.

When asked if he'd come back, he replied: "Now that I've had this break, now that my children are grown up, I feel like I have more time. I would love to take the challenge again, for my personal things and to show everybody who I am."

He acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the return of veteran professionals amidst the influx of new talent desiring spots on the show, but expressed his eagerness to embrace the challenge once more.

He commented: "I wouldn't mind going back and experiencing it all over again. I was thrown into the show from the beginning and I never worked on TV so everything was really overwhelming."

The former professional would be eager to return

Vincent further stated that he's now at a different stage in his life where he feels he could return and deliver an outstanding performance.

At present, Vincent is touring with former Strictly professionals Brendan Cole, James Jordan, Pasha Kovalev, and Ian Waite for Legends of the Dancefloor, a nationwide ballroom reunion.

Last weekend, BBC viewers saw Olympic swimmer Tom Dean exit the competition after landing in the bottom two against Toyah Willcox.

Despite earning a decent score of 23 for his routine with Nadiya Bychkova, it wasn't sufficient to keep him out of the dance-off.

When it came to the decision of who to save, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood chose to retain Toyah and her partner Neil Jones.

Tom Dean became the first celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing this year

As Anton Du Beke voted to keep Tom and Nadiya, the final decision fell to head judge Shirley Ballas, who selected Toyah.

Reflecting on his departure, Tom expressed: "I've had the best time the last few weeks and getting to work with Nadiya has been incredible.

"I wish I could have gone further and done more dances. I've had the most fun and I wish we could keep going longer and longer. We'll still go out for loads of brunches I'm sure."

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One from 6:25pm.
