BBC Being Human: Where are the cast of the Welsh drama now? From Poldark to Doctor Who

Nostalgia has been running high among fans of the BBC's supernatural series Being Human, thanks in part to Aidan Turner's critically acclaimed performance in the new Disney Plus series, Rivals.

Being Human, created by Toby Whithouse, first aired on BBC Three in 2009 and quickly gained a cult following.

The show revolves around the lives of a ghost, a werewolf, and a vampire who share a house, trying to live a "normal life" and blend in with the humans around them.

Initially, the pilot episode featured Andrea Riseborough as ghost Annie Sawyer, Russell Tovey as werewolf George Sands, and Guy Flanagan as vampire John Mitchell.

However, only Tovey retained his role as an original cast member, with Aidan Turner taking over as John and Lenora Crichlow replacing Riseborough as Annie, reports Somerset Live.

Other notable cast members who joined in later seasons include Sinead Keenan as werewolf Nina Pickering, Michael Socha as werewolf Tom McNair, Damien Molony as vampire Hal Yorke, and Kate Bracken as ghost Alex Millar.

The show ran for five seasons until 2013, with many of its cast members going on to achieve further success in their careers. Here's an update on what they're doing now.

Lenora Crichlow as Annie Sawyer

Crichlow holds the title of Being Human’s longest-running cast member, appearing in the series from season 1 to season 4.

After leaving the show in 2012, she appeared in the terrifying White Bear episode of Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror.

She has also appeared in ABC sitcom Back In The Game, NBC's A to Z and more recently appeared in Peacock’s Bel-Air.

Russell Tovey as George Sands

Tovey has been very busy since leaving the show in early season 4, appearing in shows like Him & Her, Sherlock, The Job Lot, Looking and Doctor Who.

He also recurred as John O’Shea, the love interest of Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) in Feud: Capote vs. the Swans.

To top it all off, he even lent his voice to narrate the icon reality show Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents.

Aidan Turner as John Mitchell

Turner is one of the show’s most recognisable actors, landing the titular role of Ross Poldark in the 2015 BBC drama two years after his departure.

He exited the show after splitting from his co-star Crichlow, whom he met on set two years prior.

Most recently, he starred alongside David Tennant in the Disney Plus series Rivals and also stars as Jeff Bridges in the film Grendel.

Sinéad Keenan as Nina Pickering

Keenan has most recently been starring as DCI Jess James in the ITV crime drama Unforgotten. She is also set to star in the upcoming comedy series How to Get to Heaven From Belfast.

Her other credits include Little Boy Blue, Three Families, Showtrial and a cameo in the beloved comedy Derry Girls.

Michael Socha as Tom McNair

Since leaving the show, Socha has appeared in This Is England, Chernobyl, Once Upon A Time and the film Svengali. Earlier this year, he also starred as Dave Chapman in the second series of ITV’s police procedural DI Ray.

His upcoming projects include the Netflix series Toxic Town, where he will join Jodie Whittaker and Aimee Lou Wood.

Damien Molony as Hal Yorke

Since Being Human, Molony has appeared in several shows including Ripper Street, Suspects, Crashing, The Split and Brassic.

Like his co-star, Keenan, he also landed a small cameo in the last series of Derry Girls.

Excitingly, he was recently announced to front the reboot of the BBC crime drama Bergerac, which will come from the mind of Being Human creator, Whithouse.

Kate Bracken as Alex Millar

Following her stint on Being Human, Kate has won recurring roles on huge BBC shows, including Shetland and Silent Witness.

She has also appeared in Misfits, Killing Eve, One of Us, Granite Harbour and even guest-starred in Father Brown.
