Good Morning Britain's weather presenter Laura Tobin has told how TV star Dr Hiliary Jones realised she was having her baby extremely prematurely.

The TV star welcomed her first child Charlotte into the world in 2017, but she went into labour when she was just 27 weeks pregnant - and it was ITV colleague Dr Hilary who spotted the signs and urged her to go for a check-up at the hospital.

Laura recounted the 'funny story' to Laura Hamilton on her Mile Fly Club podcast.

She woke up in the morning complaining of stomach pains but passed it off as Braxton Hicks (also known a false labour pains). But it turned out to be the real thing.

Laura, 43, told the podcast: "I went to work and Charlotte Hawkins was like: 'They're just Braxton Hicks. I really wouldn't worry about it.

"Then Debbie in wardrobe knew something wasn't right and she phoned Dr Hilary and described everything. And he said: 'It sounds like she's going to have the baby.'

"I didn't think I was having the baby, I just thought I was having Braxton Hicks. I was really chilled."

Laura told how Dr Hilary also had premature twins at 27 weeks and was convinced his colleague was having her baby.

He convinced the weather presenter to get checked out at St Thomas's Hospital, which is just a short distance from the Good Morning Britain studios in central London.

Laura was convinced she would soon be returning to present her weather segment - but says her colleagues knew what was really going on.

She said: "Everyone kept me really calm, they didn't want to stress me out. It wasn't busy, I think I might have been the only person in the ward.

"They (her colleagues) all knew the baby was about to come. The midwife came in and said: 'These babies decide when they want to come, and yours wants to come today.'

"It didn't freak me out. Then Charlotte was born that afternoon."

Charlotte is Laura's only child with husband Dean Brown, who she married in 2010. She also told the Mile Fly podcast that the couple parent their daughter differently because she was born so prematurely.
