The film marks Oscar-winning “Argo” editor William Goldenberg’s directorial debut. He also scored Academy Award nominations for his work editing “The Imitation Game,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Seabiscuit” and “The Insider.”

Eric Champnella, Alex Harris and John Hindman penned the script, which was based on Robles’ book with Austin Murphy, “Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion.”

Robles himself is seen in the film and credited as “Anthony Robles Double,” performing wrestling moves and stunts. He is also a producer on the film, which employed accessibility coordinators from IndieVisible to ensure a safe working environment, including productivity tools for all cast and crew.

“Unstoppable” is produced by Artists Equity, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company. Affleck, Robles, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Andrew Fraser, Gary Lewis and David Crockett serve as producers.

Variety’s chief film critic Owen Gleiberman positively reviewed the film, which he called “the rare sports crowd-pleaser you can believe in.” He singled out Lopez’s work as “what may be the fullest screen performance she has ever given,” and praised Jerome’s quietly powerful performance: “He’s gentle and pensive, with eyes that are orbs of intensity.”
