Dominic West Joins Showtime Espionage Thriller ‘The Agency’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Dominic West has been cast in the upcoming espionage political thriller series “The Agency” at Paramount+ with Showtime, Variety has learned exclusively.

West will appear in the series in a guest star role. The cast also includes lead Michael Fassbender and series regulars Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterston, John Magaro, Alex Reznik, Andrew Brooke, Harriet Sansom Harris, India Fowler, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Reza Brojerdi and Richard Gere. Hugh Bonneville is a guest star. Recurring cast includes Adam Nagaitis, Ambreen Razia, Bilal Hasna, David Harewood, Kurt Egyiawan, Ray BLK, Sabrina Wu and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.

As previously reported, the series is based on the French series “Le Bureau des Legendes.” Per the official logline, the series follows “Martian (Fassbender), a covert CIA agent, ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.”

West will play the Director of the CIA. The series is due to bow on Paramount+ with Showtime on Nov. 29 with two episodes streaming and on demand before its linear TV debut on Dec. 1.

West is no stranger to the Showtime audience, as he previously starred in the critically acclaimed series “The Affair” at the premium cabler from 2014-2019. He received a Golden Globe nomination for the series in 2015. West is also known for his roles in shows “The Wire” at HBO and the BBC miniseries version of “Les Miserables.” Recently, he starred in the final two seasons of “The Crown” at Netflix, earning himself an Emmy nomination. His film credits include “Chicago,” “300, “Pride,” “The Square,” “Mona Lisa Smile,” and “28 Days.”

“The Agency” will stream internationally on Paramount+ in the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Germany, Latin America, Brazil and Japan. The series is co-distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution and Federation Studios.
