Liam Payne spent his final weeks quietly donating thousands of pounds to various fundraisers across the world.

The late One Direction singer's generosity has been unveiled in the wake of his untimely passing earlier this week. The dad-of-one, who found fame on ITV show The X Factor alongside Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, fell to his death from a third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday.

Witnesses at the hotel in the country's capital have recalled how Liam was acting erratically moments before his death, with police previously saying the music star's hotel room had been "in complete disarray" with "various items broken". They added that a whiskey bottle, lighter and mobile phone had been retrieved from the internal hotel courtyard where Liam’s body was found.

But while Liam's final hours were seemingly dark and troubled, the Strip That Down hitmaker, 31, had spent his final weeks alive spreading joy and donating to those in need. Liam, who shared son Bear, seven, with his ex Cheryl Tweedy, was moved by paternal instinct.

Since Liam's passing on Wednesday, the late singer's various donations to multiple fundraisers have come to light. At the start of October, Liam donated $3000 to help a 28-year-old called Jack financially while receiving treatment for Stage 4 B Cell Lymphoma. The singer sent $5000 to a GoFundMe fundraiser in September to help the family of a four-year-old with cancer pay household bills as their young child fights cancer for a second time.

During the same month Liam sent $1000 to a GoFundMe set up to help a teenage girl called Taylor Jones who had been severely injured during a school shooting on September 4th. The late singer also donated $2,900 to a four-year-old recovering from a stroke. All donations were made as 'Liam Payne' with no message added on any GoFundMe page.

Just moments before his untimely death, Liam had been captured live on Snapchat contributing to GoFundMe campaigns, extending help to American children in dire need of medical surgeries. He opened up about his donations, saying: "As a father, it hits me differently. I would want everyone in the world helping. I have been spending the last few nights trying to finish off the donations so they can get the operations they need - they would be free in my country.

"I can't look at a sick child and not see Bear. I can't and I won't. I'm not asking for people to say well done or I'm amazing - I don't give a f*** about what people think of me." Further detailing his thoughts, he remarked: "What I care about is that that child gets to live the life it's supposed to."

In the days following his death, Liam's legacy of kindness was acknowledged by The Trussell Trust, a food bank charity which applauded his "compassion and kindess". His generous support made a difference during the tough times of Covid, as he helped fund over 100 food banks across towns in the UK, providing relief to those plunged into crisis by poverty.

In a heartfelt 2020 Facebook message, Liam shared: "Recently I made a personal, long-term commitment to support the The Trussell Trust and their vital work supplying meals to those in need all over the UK. It was humbling to get involved at my local food bank yesterday, and to meet some of the incredibly passionate people like Carla, Dorothea and Helena who are working tirelessly during these incredibly tough times. I'm glad to be playing my small part as we work towards a future in which nobody needs a food bank."

Emma Revie, CEO of The Trussel Trust, remarked sadly: "We are extremely saddened by the news of Liam Payne's death. Over the last four years, Liam was a generous supporter of Trussell and our community of food banks, not only funding the provision of more than 360,000 meals during Covid but also often joining us in calling for the solutions required to end the need for emergency food." She continued, "We greatly appreciate the compassion and kindness he always showed to people facing hunger and hardship. His death is a very tragic loss, and our thoughts are with his loved ones."
