Ellis episode 2 cast: Who is in the new detective mystery?

Ellis is back with another mystery as DCI Ellis and assistant DS Harper arrive in the town of Callorwell.

Ellis returns to Channel 5 with a second feature-length episode which takes DCI Ellis (played by Sharon D Clarke) on a new journey.

She is investigating the suspicious disappearance of a local detective, Jenny Rawler, but the missing person's colleagues believe she left of her own free will.

The full synopsis reads: "Ellis and Harper arrive in the town of Callorwell to investigate the disappearance of a local detective. Leighton needs Ellis to control the case: the DCI of the station is off with stress, and the force recently arrested the head of a major criminal gang but bungled the case and had to let her go.

"Jenny’s colleagues are indifferent to her disappearance, believing she left of her own free will, but Ellis – and Jenny’s husband – feel something is amiss.

"More so when she learns that when Jenny disappeared, she was days away from submitting a complaint of bullying against her colleagues. Rife with a toxic culture, the station blocks Ellis at every turn forcing her to reach out to the enemy." Here's all you need to know about who is in the cast.

DI Jamie Morrison - Sam Marks

Sam Marks has previously starred in the ITV series Litvinenko and he has also appeared in Doctor Who and Foyle's War.

His most recent credits include Daemon Mind, The Doll's House and The Witcher.

DC Leah Thompson - Aoibhéann McCann

Aoibhéann McCann is an Irish actress based between Dublin, Belfast and London.

As well as a drama degree, she also has a degree in French & Sociology.

She has previously starred in Vikings, Harry Wild, Blue Lights and Three Families.

Sgt Frank Landry - William Travis

William Travis is a British actor from Manchester who began his acting career in 1991.

He is best known for his multiple roles in Coronation Street, but has also starred in Doctors, Downton Abbey and Casualty.

Naomi McKeith - Stephanie Levi-John

Stephanie Levi-John is a stage actress who has had some TV roles in Silent Witness, Not Going Out and Sanctuary.

She may be recognised for her role as Lina in The Spanish Princess.

CSI Christine Bennet - Kirsten Foster

Kirsten Foster is a Eurasian actress, who was born and raised in Hong Kong.

She is mostly known for her theatre roles, but had TV appearances in Doctors, Litvinenko and Vera.

Adam Reid - Jonathan Harden

Jonathan Harden is a Northern Irish actor and director.

His most notable credits include Blue Lights, Unforgotten and Peep Show.

He started a venture in film directing in 2017, when he produced and directed his first film project, Guard.

He is married to Northern Irish actress Bronágh Taggart.

Mark Reid - Michael McCloskey-Ooi

Michael McCloskey-Ooi is a Northern Irish actor who is mostly known for his theatre roles.

His only other TV credit was in Millie Inbetween on CBBC.

DCI Hain - Tim Dutton

Tim Dutton is a 60-year-old stage, film and TV actor known for The Bourne Identity and Poldark.

He starred in the Academy Award and BAFTA nominated film Tom & Viv as Maurice Haigh-Wood.

Tim Jones - Paul Mallon

Paul Mallon, 41, trained as an actor at the Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre.

After more than 10 years living in London he is now based in Belfast.

His credits include Derry Girls, Shameless and London Irish.

Carla Duffy - Orla Charlton
